Good Credit

Start Early

Credit ratings take into account how long a person has had an established line of credit. Having a long line of good credit can substantially improve an individual’s credit rating. For those that have children it may be a good idea to register a credit card in the child’s name as soon as legally possible. Periodically allow the child to make purchases with the card and make sure that each month the child pays the balance in full. This will teach a young teenager to get in the habit of paying off credit card debt in full and will also help to establish a good line of credit for the child early in life. Be careful to restrict access to the card however as young teens with too much power over their credit card could go on an all out shopping spree that would defeat the purpose entirely.

Cards

When selecting a credit card be sure to shop around and find one with the lowest interest rate possible. However, it is always best to pay a credit card bill in full because it will save money n the long run and keep debts from piling up. Try and limit the number of cards used. Using any more than one credit card is playing with fire because keeping track of where all the money is going becomes harder and harder the more cards that are owned.
